If you look at the closeup photo and look closely at the manufacturer's label, you'll apparently read the word "Valje". Are my eyes deceiving me?

These drums look a lot more like Valjes than any Pearl conga models I've ever seen: the shape of the shells and the hardware, particularly the crown ears and the plates.

Could it be that they posted the wrong pictures? And if they're indeed Valjes could they be that old (1940s)? I thought that Tom Flores, founder of Valje drums, started making drums "only" in 1954 (in LA). See: http://www.soldrums.com/flores.html

If they're indeed vintage Valjes, these could be a real treasure find! Someone hurry up and grab them! Not me, I'm already happy with what I've got.

well i went ahead and picked them up. definately valjes. the tumba needs work with a couple splits. conga and quinto in real good shape. the tumba has nasty

scarring where it sat in stand. i don't know if its fixable. i don't know how terrible it would look to fill in. i'll need advice for sure. i'll try and post pics later

after i've told my wife what i've spent. she's not gonna like it. lol

i'll also need to get rods and nuts since they have lp stuff on them. over the years someone replaced them obviously. luckily Flores son is around to help out.

Alex - You did good!
Worth 2 - 3 times what you paid. - Even more if you hold on to them.
Easy fixes - fun too!

Nice score on the Valjes!

I've bought lugs from Ralph Flores for my Valje, he's a great guy to deal with. Sometimes takes a little but of time to reach
him, phone is best. He's always come through for me. Does great work and quick too.
