Will purchase Bauer set!

Postby akdom » Sun Jan 24, 2010 7:34 am

Happy happy happy

After 17 years of percussion, I decided to buy my first set NEW! I know, I know...

So I guess it will be Bauer (quinto, conga tumba).... The problem is that where I live one cannot get the Vintage series which I love!

Anyways, I might just get the Classics then.

That's it, I just wanted to share my joy! I didn't want to go mainstream and give money to the main stream manufacturers....

Can you find even classic series?

I have conga/tumba set of Bauer vintage, and I've been searching on the internet for somebody to buy the third drum from (probably a quinto), and it seems that supply of Bauers in Europe has dried up.

How about this supplier?

I've always liked Bauers. They have some seriously nice hardware. Nice drums.

Hi there

Yes, here in France, there are a couple of ditributors supplying Bauer classics but not vintage.

I already contact the people from your link bongo. They are in the UK, so not really far from me (just need to cross France from North to South). And I am waiting for their answer. They are a bit cheaper than French suppliers so I might be able to pay for shipping and the drums without having to sell one of my kidney... I suppose...

I'll let you know.

FYI you can order the standard congas with the comfort curve rims.
Then buy the traditional rims direct from Bauer in Brazil.
I believe the only difference will be the stickers.

good ideal.

The problem is that the crown is not the only difference between the vintage and the classic. The staves of the vintage are different in colour from each other... Which is what gives it its vintage look.

I also contacted Bauer directly. I am waiting for an answer.

Yes, I am a happy cat!

The finishing is amazing apart from a couple of details such as varnish drops, but I am just being picky here.

The hardware seems great, hooks are thick and bolts look strong too.
The comfort curve like crown is very comfy.
The skins are thick, just what I like!

Shells are very nice, with slightly different colors, which I love! The wood was obviously hand selected!
The inside of the shell looks terrific also and the back plates are big and strong...

I haven't tried them yet, I need to grease the hooks first and tune them (slowly at first until the sin gets used to the shell).

I'll tell you more about the sound very soon.
