Alafia Abure Mr. Conga!
I hope that you are well!

Sorry, but that last clip is not with my "Ritmo" congas, I'm using my "Isla" set, you did however post the other ones correctly though. Matthew Smith creates some incredibly beautiful sounding, and looking drums!

Suave!

Here's a few.....

What wood is this? Ash? if they are Ash, I guess Matt is the only person that can make Ash drums that I would buy!

I definitely love the Tiger Maple and the Walnut. Anyone have either who would care to comment on them? Guitarists have told me that Maple has very nice bright tones and I'm not sure about Walnut.

Now there is a cream of the crop if I ever saw one  . Gorgeous drum. I would love to hear what is sounds like  .
I was under the impresion that your drum would have a darker tone based on your first post, when you ordered it.
ABAKUA, if you havent already, I do hope you get this soon.
Man, That drum body looks very, very similar to a Requena I know of  and I must say, that handle shure adds some Classic charater as well.

That's a great looking drum!

What kind of wood is that?

Looks like ash, that wood grain really stands out. It has that vintage look to it.

I'm new to the conga world and would appreciate anyone's thoughts about these clips. Obviously there are two sets of drums involved here. Assuming the audio is fairly good representation of how the drums really sound, I much prefer the sound of the first set to the second set. No offense. Are both sets of drums considered to be "good sounding" drums? What accounts for the difference in sounds? Would it most likely be the wood, the construction methods or perhaps the type of heads?

Thanks for your help.

I believe they are all the same drums, except for the last clip. and they are tuned lower.

Yep, you are correct. I guess when I listened to the last clip and it sounded so different, along with the different lighting on the heads I quickly thought I was listening to two sets of drums.

Thanks.

Yo Jaisen, gracias bro, the requinto kicks ass, you're right its Ash. You can check out some more pics here: http://mycongaplace.com/forum/eng/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7153

Ive just had some custom drums made here in Havana, solid shell out of Almendra, stainless steel hardware, 7 lugs. 11.75"Macho and 13"Hembra, bien barrigonas, they are amazing. Will post pics once I get back, been here since Nov last year, prob be back around April or so.
