mmm, mmmm recycled rum barrel wood!! wrought iron. the tuning lugs (congas) are thick, but are they strong?

somehow I think they got the skin description reversed,
olderr skins for macho & quint/conga, and younger skin for tumba, hembra ??? Backwards no?

That company is old and defunct, apparently got wiped out by a hurricane many years back. I had some of their bata, sounded pretty good, I've played on a couple of similar congas made by artisans in the DR, good sounding, but a bit rustic. They were blowing out all their stuff on music123.com a while back, selling a full set (3drums) of the artisan series ( painted with local scenes) for like 180.00! There a guy on e-bay right now trying to sell the same 3 for 499.00! Capitalism at its best!

It's true that they are recycled drum barrels, they are very heavy, and the wrought iron hardware seems to have been made in a hurry, not much detail to quality. I had a Conga and Tumba some years ago, and the Conga did not give me the sound I was hoping for. Not much pop, or slap. However the Tumba was quite the opposite. It had a very boomy deep resonating sound. It would have been great in a Rumba drum circle. Hope this helps a little.
