I think they are either lenke and haré, the tumba is darker that the other 2:

Hi Julian,

I'm very curious to know as to why anyone would pick a quinto, much more a requinto, to be his/her favorite tumbadora if given only one choice, unless he/she were a rumbero/rumbera.

Are you mainly or even exclusively a rumbero?

Personally, I'd pick the conga. And, if I were good and experienced enough to be a rumbero, I'd pick the quinto.

But, I don't claim to know much, more so everything, and I'd be more than happy to learn something new from anybody.

Thanks in advance,

I am not cool unless I have this conga. The dude in the tight white pants is the definition of non-masculinity:

I need to post a correction re: the type of wood that my conga shells are made of. They are actually made of dugara wood and not lenke or haré, as I originally stated. I do have other instruments that are made of the previously stated wood and after looking at them and the congas the difference is pretty noticeable and that's why I looked into it again.

Saludos Hermanos

chupacabra your custom congas look really nice. is the solid wood makin contact with floor? if so, i have a solution for you. use a clear water hose and lay it against the bottom of the drum push on it till its about half way flattend and nail it with tack nails all the way around. ill post some pics later. will keep your drums from splitting at the bottom.

My dream conga would be one that I would make myself out of mahogany. With the shape of a Valje, a traditional rim, a mule skin head and four bands. I can see it in my dreams!

I'd take bongos ... I know the question was which conga but most of the percussive unwashed call em bongos anyway so maybe I can get away with my cheatin bastard answer?

Besides if I'm alone on this island then its my dam island and I'll name things what I please! :D
