Como Esta mi Socio Omelenko 1?
Espero que todo este bien contigo Papa!

Chacho! I still catch myself just sitting in various parts of the room, and just staring at them (my Matthew Smiths). Estan mas lindas que ayer, imaginate!

I think el hermano Abakua is very much aware of the enjoyment he's going to get once he lays them heavy hands on his special order drum!

Man hermano I no doubt share your excitement. I can't wait to see pictures of this soon to be wonderfully crafted, awesome sounding, work of art y todo lo demas, re-quinto. Did you ask him to take pictures of the in process work?

P.S.
Con todo respeto, I think we should move this to the "NEWS" tred so that we wont be acussed of Jacking

I've got an old (likely Cuban) tackhead, circa 1953-1955, with bands. No glue at all. It's got a lot of splits and is unplayable now, but probably a typical pre-hardware conga of its day.

As many of you probably know, the wood for a lot of drums used to be salvaged from old rum and wine barrels. And rum and wine barrels were made with traditional coopering techniques that did not require glue. The wood soaks up some of the liquid inside, expands between the staves and outwardly against the hoops, the circular head on each end acts like an alma, and all of these things keep the barrel reasonably round and functional for its expected lifetime.
