yeah but why? Manufactured congas fit to modern music but hand made don't?

What about these wood species? Maybe some off them are more "folcloric" but other ones less?

Different congas lend themselves differently to different kinds of music. You'll need to experiement on your own (and ask questions of others) to see what might work for what you want to play.

I don't know of any videos,BUT Jerry Gonzalez(Fort Apache Band)plays them on"Rumba para Buhaina" his tribute to the great jazz drummer Art Blakey.Killer versions of Blue Note post bop classics .A marriage of the two most developed forms of improvisational music on the planet, jazz and rumba,IMO.The tumbadoras sound is smoking.I believe Matts' drums are on Jerry's"los Piratos" recording also.

I will say this till the day someone proves me wrong , up to date matthew smith is the very best in this game , there is no debate , forget about it , i have had & have some the best drums congas , batas , bongos etc. ,made so , true story i have played them all , but without a dought matts drums are the best in sound , construction , & finish , hands down cause ritmo percussion is the leader of the pact.... jaisen .

here are a few pics of my mahogony set... take that , take that , take that ...,
oh & by the way those old video clips of jerry playing those cuban style drums , those are junior tirado drums not ritmos , & with all due respect junior was the best in the game , its a shame he no longer with us , may god have him in his glory .
