ya Gavin they have a big room full of returned stuff dirt cheap. this drum was on regular sales floor. they carry the Poncho sanchez models only now ....those have a modified comfort curve rim and a fancy badge.....the price is higher though. I liked original better with traditional rims. Ya finally got a real deal out of them. Their normally kinda pricey but a lotta gear.

Peace

Couldn't keep still listening to Listen to Me Closely. I love Tattoo Blue. Great sound and the kind of band I'm hoping to start here in the Philly burbs, though not sure it would be as well appreciated as it is in Fremont, CA. One thing in all the site track mixes.... didn't hear you in there??? Wassup wid dat?

Congatick, :)

Glad you love my band, "Tattoo Blue". And thanks for your very kind words!

BTW, if it's not inconvenient for you, please visit our website again ever visit our website again and write in your comment. We'd really appreciate it! Thanks in advance.

Re: not hearing me on the tracks, Congamyk brought up the same comment in another thread. My answer to you will essentially be similar to what I gave him: As a pop percussionist with "Tattoo Blue", my percussion sound doesn't always have to stand out and I don't have to play throughout each song. (The band and the recording engineer decided to relatively mute my percussion sound.) :(

And as a multi-percussionist, I don't always use the conga. Here are the instruments I used for the following songs:

1. "I Found You" - shaker & tambourine

2. "Baby's Got A New Tattoo" - conga (I played a basic Tumbao pattern using "just" my Roland Handsonic HPD-15. Yes, you read right! I used my electronic percussion. I didn't have my Islas then yet. My Toca fiberglass practice congas still had their original water buffalo skins which were dead. And, at that time, I was very reluctant to use our lead guitarist's LP Aspires for recording.)

3. "Monday Morning Blues" - Tambourine

4. "Listen To Me Closely" - conga (I don't exactly remember, but I may have given up my reluctance to use the LP Aspires at this time and decided to use it during the recording. But, I had to retune both quinto and conga up to my preference.)

"Tattoo Blue", being essentially a Blues/Rock band, I and the rest of the band don't want to make us sound more Latin than Blues/Rock. My job is basically to fill the empty spaces left by just having a drummer and also to add color to our overall percussion sound.

Now, if I were playing with a Latin band or Latin-Jazz band, that's different. My percussion sound will definitely have to stand out more. :D
