I am looking for everything rumba guaguanco. I have a Bobby Matos cd with a few selections that feature the rythym but the vocals drown out the congas. Does anyone know of good sites or CD's that feature the Guaguanco? DESCARGA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to learn to play Guaguancó you should learn from "La Mata". Get some Cd's from Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, Grupo AfroCuba de Matanzas, Clave y Guaguancó, Yoruba Andabo, Pancho Quinto, Carlos Embale, Los Papines, Cutumba!

Jorge I never heard that expression in "learning" "La Mata" doesn't that mean the Plant????? How does that relate to learning guaguanco??? JC JOHNNY CONGA...

Laurent, "La Mata" is just a term we use in Puerto Rico.
For example we can say that Maestro Rafael Cepeda, Q.P.D., was "La Mata", "El Fundamento", La Raíz, of La Bomba y La Plena in Puerto Rico. Hope this helps!

Los Munequitos de Matanzas, have a CD named Rumba Caliente that is good to hear and it's clear. There is also a cancionero that have all the songs of the best rumba that has ever been played. I'll get back to you on that one.
