CongaTick, I thought about doing this to my conga and quinto only have two 2x2's or what ever in a X and notched out where the conga foot rests in each 2x. IDEA'S IDEA'S !! wOoT

Yep. that'll work, but the notching should be fairly deep to hold the tubs in place, hence the spring-clips. We all make do with what we have when budget is an issue. BTW, the djembe is an incredibly cool addition tomy 3 drum+bongo setup. Wondeful accents and another color to the palette of sounds I have available within the mix. (But I may revert to dyeing hair again. A guy like me showing up on a gig always raises a few curious eyebrows )
