Robertito Melendez - Peligroso

Let's talk about what can be found around that worth having..

Congueros,
I'm listening to , Robertito Melendez, on Dave Pike's 'Peligroso' CD. The track I'm listening to now is 'Back To The Roots'. Esto esta off the hook! Robertito tears it up on this CD and there's not a single bad track on this album.

I just recently discovered the sounds of Robertito Melendez and I am very impressed! This cat sounds incredible!

Anyone have any background info./history on Robertito? Anyone played with him or see him play live? Please share your story with us. Thanks!

Just ordered "Peligroso" after visiting Robertitos web site (that's one of the things I love about this forum - loads of info and inspiration everywhere!)

There is even a picture of Robertito and our own Johnny Conga on the site! :)

Yea me and Robertito"MY Boy" have been friends for many years and he came to me when he was very young to learn how to play congas, but he has come into his own in the past 5 years or so and is killing it in Los Angeles.. I will be performing with him and his band as "special guest" when I go to L.A next month . He is a "hardcore" player from Philly and has been in L.A. for many years. He has recorded at least 8 CD's under Bobby Matos name, so there is more of him out there to listen to...enjoy ..ps he is also a GREAT Bongosero his main ax...."JC" Johnny Conga....and yes you will see me and him on his site along with many others. ... :D

Got "Peligroso" a few days ago. Great music and fantastic conga playing!

However Dave Pike is ruining half of the tracks with this annoying and very loud and out of tune humming - sounds almost as if your neighbour was singing along to your radio. Makes it impossible to listen to the tracks on iPod! Works a bit better on the stereo where the sound blends with a bit of background noise.

I didn't know much about DP before I bought this cd - Is the humming/singing along some kind of trademark for him? Hate it! :( I know that a few artists have a habit of doing this - but man this is loud! :)
