Hey guys,
I'm currently listening to Totico Y Sus Rumberos. The track I'm listening to is called Noche Cubana and Jerry Gonzalez is throwing down some nasty 'golpes' on quinto! It's heavy.

It's interesting to see the development of an artist..growing up at the same time as Jerry G(in the Bronx), Im one year older, i was already on my way up and Jerry was right behind me but at that time Jerry couldn't play, and had NO time at all. I know this cause I witnessed an early audition for a band in the Bronx with him and he didnt get the gig.....but then he went to Music and Art high school and when he came out he was 'burnin" playing trumpet as well as congas and that was kinda new for a conga player to 'double' on instruments....I taught myself how to play vibes so I wouldn't be just a 'conguero'...but a "multi-percussionist"......"versatility is key!" is what I say..."JC" Johnny Conga.. :D
