hi guys,

i've seen the "the talking drum" michael spiro, garibaldi and diaz book "timbafunk". it shows different rhythm patterns played on the drums, congas, etc.

how does the book "tiempo" look like? what are the contents?

how is it compared to the first book?

Hi Wam, hope all is well! "Tiempo" is an excellent book for intermediate to advanced players. What is nice is that this time the play alongs are also for Congas and Timbales. It can be viewed as further chapters of "Timbafunk". They cover: Son, Tiempo, Guarapachangueo, Síncopa Melódica, Invento 6/8,
Obba- Tributo a Changuito, Abakuá, Orunmila! Very nice! I highly recommended!

Hope this helps!

thanks jorge,

i really appreciate it. i'd love to get both books but if i were to choose just one, since it's kinda expensive for me with the dollar rate right now (i'm from the philippines), which would you recommend?

Hi Wam, hope all is well! Both books are excellent resources. I guess it depends on what you already know and what do you want to work next. "Timbafunk" includes: Guiro, Bembé, Yongo, Rumba Columbia, Guaguancó, Arará, Pilón, Mozambique, Comparsa, Guaramina, Merengue, Rumba Iyesá! The material on "Tiempo" is more advanced. Hope this helps!
