Siamo in tre, io alle congas, un timbalero e un batterista. Io e il timbalero suoniamo, quando necessario, anche altre percussioni tipo bongos, shakers, guiros, ecc.ecc.
Il problema maggiore che si pone per noi sono i locali dove poter suonare, tanti infatti non sono in grado di accogliere così tanti musicisti e, soprattutto, così tanti strumenti!
Diciamo che la situazione è più favorevole in primavera e in estate quando cominciano gli spettacoli all'aperto.
Comunque anche in sala prove ci divertiamo un sacco con la musica di Santana e, da percussionista, ti posso dire che mi da molta soddisfazione.

Ci credo che ti da soddisfazione, io sono cresciuto a "pane e Santana" e ti capisco perfettamente. Resta il fatto che appena sai di avere qualche data vorrei sapere dove e quando.

Hi Shaddy,

you are quite right that the rhythm I play for "Love of my Life" is not the original rhythm that Raul plays on the track. I tried to hear exactly what he played but could not. The rhythm I wrote for congaplace was what I ended up playing.

I know that Raul and Karl Perazzo have made a video with some of the Santana grooves and the correct rhythm would proberbly be in that video. I have not seen it yet. Anyone seen it?

But hey, guess what? Raul lives less than 10 minuttes drive from me so I could just ask him. Oh yes, he fell in love with a danish girl and now lives here in Denmark.

By the way, there is a small error in the Latin groove rhythm. The 13th. and 14th. beat in the variation should be a heel-finger movement as in the basic rhythm. I will have CongaMan to correct that.

Dear Christian, you are right, I have got the video you wrote about and i took the rhythm from there.
I think that you are very lucky living 10 minutes far from Raul. I have always been a great fan of him. One of these days I could call to your place and come to Denmark to see both of you.
