Mysterious Meinl Bell

Postby Mike » Thu May 30, 2013 6:26 pm

Has anyone come across a cowbell by Meinl called "La Habana"?
Perhaps it is an older model? I cannot find it in any recent Meinl catalogue.
I have never heard of it, looks like a very flat bongo bell maybe?

Any input is appreciated, I am just curious.

Hi Mike, def an old model bell. Still made in Germany. Since discontinued. A friend of mine had one many years ago, he played bongo in a band with me many years ago.

Hi Marcelo,
thanks for the swift reply.
OK, then that looks like a decent bongó bell.
Wonder why it is not produced any longer though...

I have this in red, purchased off of ebay two months ago for $18. Very versatile bell with a few angled surfaces that produce different sounds. Great bell.

Hey, I have just been able to score such a bell! :D
What a nice bell that is, I like it very much, the overtones are not too nasty,
and the sound is pretty fully and dark (deep). Excellent bongó campana, and also
all-round hand bell.
Thanks for your input, Abakua and Powersemantic !
