Hi !!

I have to work on very old drums, before 50'. Do you know theses drums ? What brand ? Europe, US ?

Have you seen the tunning system ? very nice !!

Very Interesting. Those bongo shells look Cuban to me.
Are the staves narrow?

Looks like the person or maker used two crowns on one drum with a turnbuckle like part in the center. Very interesting. I am wondering if you can see any signs of wear of scraping along the lower crown? That would be one of my main concerns with those drums. The bongos however look like they have no such issues.

I just noticed from the first picture that if you do not tune these perfectly balanced that you will have that bottom crown shift on you and possibly cause damage to the shell. It's a nice idea, but definitely not practical like the bongos.

Yep, similar to Echo tones. There is a channel for the bottom crown, but, as you said, the crown cause damage to the shell..

The bongoes are solid shell, one piece of kind of Mahogany.

I have some info about theses drums :

The brand is "METJAZZ" percussions build buy The Metzger family : The father Jean and the sons Henri, André and Jean Claude. Henri, the last died in april 2009.

Year 1946 to 1964, export until Venezuela !!
