Airbrushed? I understood it was a type of wrap that went on all his drums..
Either way, they look awesome. Seen them a while back when he first got them, pics went up on fbook.

Appropriate for an album cover, a label design for really good rum, even a velvet painting or two sold in a Las Vegas tourist trap, but----sorry--- on congas? Tacky, tacky, tacky.

The people on his drum include his Mother and as I remember his Aunt both have been very supportive and inspirational to a very Humble brother. I think he told me they sang and motivated him, He would often come and jam with us in Luquillo at El Flamboyan.

Here we go again!!!
No sooner does someone post a picture of one Congeros Congas with his own Art/Inspiration on them and one person has to right away refer to it as Tacky, and as if that weren't bad enough, another person has to come in with a total agreement to it. Why do you people have to do this? why can't you respect someone's personalized artwork on their drums?
These drums are really nice, and it's an expression of something that is very special and personal to owner of them. I for one salute Mr. Paoli on a job well done. I don't know him, but I totally respect him.

No disrespect meant to Master Paoli (or you Thebreeze), but ANY public posting of work should be open to criticism. Without casting personal aspersions. If one doesn't have the skin thick enough, get out of the kitchen. If this is a personal expression to which Paoli is sensitive, he should never display them. On the other hand he had his drums "decorated" for their PUBLIC display. That being the case, an opinion regarding their "tackiness" isn't out of bounds and is as relevant as all the "oohs" and "aaahhs" offered up.

joaozinho..... You are a good man, I can see that just by how you replied, and that is a good thing. You are sensitive to peoples feelings and I am glad you posted the reply like you did, it tells me a lot about you.

CongaTick.... You don't have to worry, I will stay out of your Kitchen. Meanwhile, stick to your guns, and don't let anyone or anything mess with your pride.

To Thebreeze, et al:

Conversation with my wife about this post:

SHE: "You said WHAT? That it was TACKY?"

ME: Yes.

SHE: "Why do you do that? Just because you are an old fart does NOT give you the right to say any damn thing
your pie hole spouts."

ME: "But they WERE tacky."

SHE: "Who gives a shit what you think? It's art. You cannot opinionize on art! If I've told you once, I've told you a hundred
times: If you've got nothing nice to say about something, keep your mouth shut!"

ME: "Yeah, you're right."

SHE: "Always. Now take off your asshole hat, and apologize to the forum."

ME: "Yes dear."

And so I do.

Knowing the family story and intent behind these drums makes all the difference. Anything that comes from this place and is integrated with our music and instruments has a sacred place.

If they were mass produced by LP, hmmmm, might think differently about em'. :D

Yer'all keepin' it real on this thread, that's for sure! 8)
