Are those samples midi files? The djembe doesn't sound real...

Those are definitely sequenced midi patterns played through some kind of a sound module. In other words, a machine not a human being. While quite sterile sounding, it could be useful for slowing down the phrases. For example, that cool phrase would be a lot easier for beginning and intermediate students to learn if it was slowed down.
