I am going to attempt to make a 'wine-barrel' bomba.
I live by a bunch of wineries and can get old 55 gal. barrels for about $55 a pop.
I have found some resources on the web, but I am still trying to find out what I am going to do about hardware.
I wish there was a place that sold old school hardware. I don't need anything fancy or pretty, just functioning.
Does anyone know of a source?

You could try this link... http://www.vaxxine.com/bhdrum/
Wine barrel drums happen to be his speciality. I used Mali weave for mine - but I used a 30 litre barrel.
Here is a sample of some no-nonsense hardware from the old-school. I don't know how well this system would work on something the size of a 55-gallon barrel.

To buy or get hardware made for a big 55er would be a fairly expensive proposition but you could try improvising and/or customizing some of the hardware that you find at a marine supply store. A lot of the fittings are sold in stainless steel which ain't cheap but there is less expensive hardware that could suit your purpose.
