Remo Tubanos?

Does anyone have any information/experience/opinions with them? They seemed sort of a like a silly idea when I first saw them, but I heard one in a live situation (mic'd) and it sounded quite pleasing.

Any help is appreciated.

I personally don't care for the tubano's. unlike a conga-due to their shape- they are difficult to angle for sit down play. I think they would work out good for drum circles and teaching environments, but their sound and feel is a bit to "plastic" for me.

I have a 14" Remo tubano. It's not my favorite drum, but I find that it has its uses. I sometimes play with mallets.
