Pop-up ads

To the administrators:

almost every time I enter the forum, I see pop-up ads, often when clicking "New Posts" or when leaving. This is for 3 or 5 days now. Purpose or virus? Or am I the only one seeing it?

It could come from your browser settings.

I use Firefox with an ad-blocking plugin, called µBlock-Origin. You can install it via the menu "Tools" -> "Add ons". It works fine.

I don't know if there's something similar for Chrome. And I don't use Microsoft's browsers, Internet Explorer and Edge, so I can't tell either.

And there's also a "Reading mode" in Firefox, which allows you to avoid the ads. I just discovered it. :)

Purpose or virus?

It doesn't prevent you to launch a virus analysis though. ;)

Thank you Chtimulato. Avira says my device is clean and safe. My suspicion was that the forum might have been infected.

I checked Firefox for ad blockers. They all claim to access my data and browser activity, including uBlock Origin. Which I don't want. You may say that it happens all the time, anyway. But at least I can deny my consent.

I know the text-only view, and I use it occasionally, but never with congaplace.

Nevertheless - thank you for your advice!
Thomas

This is what I see, and I do not get it from any other site I visit, not even the European Finale Forum, which is also the phpBB type.

It doesn't inhibit the use of the forum, but it's annoying.

And I guess you don't want to buy jewels from Wempe and don't need pocket money either... :)

Unless the forum admin(s) can do something, the only solution I know is an ad blocker, sorry... :)
