I've played "kungas" "congos", etc, but the best so far was a band leader with whom I sat in this weekend who referred to me as the "CONGO-BONGA" man. Has a nice ring to it.

In this time and age there should not be any excuse to not to know what is a conga, bongo or timbal.
You look on ebay and craigslist and you wonder how on earth the person that owns the drum does not know
the correct name for it. One of the most basic and fundamental things about playing a musical instrument is
to know the instrument history and development. No wonder some people do not learn how to play because
in the first place they dot no know what on earth they bought. Some other people do not give the drum the
proper respect because they think is for "jungle music" and all you have to do is bang the hell out of the drums.

Here is a 'new one' I have heard some people call Conga drums 'floor bongos" hahahahahahahahaha...oh man...to the young out there please do your homework on the history and facts about the Conga drum etc...Thank you!...

Many years ago when I was getting my conga tattoo done, the redneck that was doin the stabbin' called it a 'Kettle drum'
