Found these Congas on CL...Good Deal for Beginner?

Postby Hawker » Sat Aug 06, 2011 6:24 pm

Folks,
Long time drummer but new to Congas. Currently trying to learn on a borrowed LP Aspire Quinto (10.5) but want to move up to a "real" conga. Budget forces me to buy used and I've found these in my area. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

1st set: The stands are useless so they aren't even a factor. There appears to be chips in the finish on both drums. Look them over very carefully and see if you can chisel him down to $325.00 and not a cent higher than $350.

2nd set: The photo is pretty small. If they are in really good condition that is a fair price but again, the stands are better than the first pair but still not even a factor. IMHO.

If you read through all the threads here, the Matador series is highly regarded by many people for entry to mid-level players, and even some serious players.

I like the look of the second set.
I think the older Matadors had a better sound and shells than the newer ones (the bright red ones look more recent).
Can't go wrong for $350

I would see if the seller is willing to sell the single Palladium series drum. It's best to stick with congas thae are at least the same height.

Sorry to be a pest, I was all ready to buy the Matadors when I ran across these Cosmic Percussion.

If I understand right, these are a precursor to the LP brand. Anything special about them?

Thanks again,

Wouldn't waste my money on those CPs , if they were the older CPs with the traditional hardware OK, but no. The Matadors are a way better buy.
PS : Do your research here in the forum so you don't become a pest... there are many posts on the drums you have mentioned .
Peace
