How long... ?

Postby Mike » Mon Mar 28, 2011 2:47 pm

Hey, I have just seen that it is my 10th year on this forum here.
Wow, time to celebrate this incredible anniversary...

Well, perhaps it could be interesting to see via a poll how long
YOU have ben around here.
Not lurking as a guest, but a registered, well-known member
contributing more or less regularly.

EDIT: I do know that you can see the joining date with each member´s post,
but I was just curious about some serious statistics here
So let´s get the party started :)

10 years for me  Didnt even own a computer 10 years ago . Use to use a dial up connection in my mums house . This forum has changed alot over the years , not as enjoyable as it used to be tbh . To many many bullies and people dont respect peoples opinions any more and not to mention abusive pm,s getting sent  How and ever it is still the best forum out there for congas / latin percussion .Heres to another 10 years ...

10 years in July.

Imagine - If we were all somehow magically teleported to a huge park for a day.
With all of our differences we would still all have a great time meeting each other and playing music together.

I've met a few people from here in person and they are tremendous musicians, people and friends.
With all of it's faults, congaplace is still the best conga forum on the web and a real asset.

Niall, Mike,
yes, 10 years is an awful load of years,
and you are right, the forum has changed
in the tone a bit, it was more a playful,
well-tempered, highly enjoayble forum when
I entered 10 years ago.
In fact I have been fed up lately with some
of the bickering and bantering here.
Well, perhaps the world is not the same it was 10 or more
years ago, netiquette is increasingly unknown to some people.

Whatever, I am still here... :)

I have also met some of the people from the forum in the flesh and it was cool to meet them , nice people . I think sometimes the keyboard warrior in all of us gets the better of us from time to time and most people on here are decent folk . After all you dont meet many conga players in reality who are assholes :D well maybe

Hahaha, that word made my day
You are absolutely right there.

Well, I hope I still know what the Bard said:
Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and
some [seem to] have greatness thrust upon them
