Maraca - Yoruba song - analysis

Postby vasikgreif » Tue Jan 18, 2011 8:05 pm

Hi, I would love to play the Yoruba song by Maraca when time comes. Could someone with more trained ears tell me what bata toques/ other rhytms are used in this song?

Hi Vasik,

Cool track from an Irakere alumni, very reminescent of their trademark sound!!!

The toques I heard are:
Rumba Obatalá
Ñongo (6x8 instrumental interludes)
Rumba Obatalá
Ñongo
Rumba Obatalá
after Piano Montuno breakdown it goes to Chachá Olokefún
Ñongo again for Timbal Solo
Chachá Olokefún till end.

Hope this helps!!!

Saludos,
