L&H Percussion

Postby msb501clave » Sun Nov 28, 2010 11:30 pm

Get your Percussionist friends family or yourself a nice set of skins for the holidays. Many reviews here of The L&H mule and Cow. Why buy from a guy who doesn't know anything about what you do or what you need. Buy from the pros..... L&H, Texas got nothing on L&H ....
Happy Holidays !

Loving the two mules you supplied me a while back, one is starting to sound nice as it breaks in on my valje quinto, the other has settled lovely on my Matthew Smith Tumba.

Do you have a line on quality (bongo macho grade) goat ? also bleached cow. Ralph at Valje used to get me beautiful, lightly bleached (still showing amber colors in the white), cow or steer (never knew the difference!).

Cheers, Barrie

I HAVE PURCHASED QUITE A FEW SKINS THROUGH THE YEARS, FROM VARIOUS SOURCES
FOR MY CONGAS AND BONGOS. BUT, TO THIS DAY, THE FINEST SKINS THAT I HAVE PURCHASED,
HAVE COME FROM MICHAEL OF L&H PERCUSSION.

HE HAS PROVIDED ME WITH OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE, GREAT DEALS, AND SUPER FAST SHIPPING.

THE BEST SO FAR.

This is the sound I always strive for on my bongo's, you can hear the hembre is also quite thin I believe.

Love Ray Romero !

Great video, no doubt, but I wonder what it has to do with this thread :?

Anyway, the L&H cow skins on my Hector Roche bongó sound very crisp,
thin cow on macho and thick one on hembra is the real thing there.

Err, it's part of an ongoing discussion regarding skins for my bongos between me and Mike. If a picture's worth a thousand words, then a video of Ray Romero producing exactly the tones I crave is priceless ! ;-)

Well, discussing is fine with me :)
As far as the video is concerned:
the tuning, the shape of the bongó and last but not least the recording equipment
are factors one should not neglect. Sound preferences are personal matters of course,
but also the surroundings play a great role in the perception (room - hall - outside etc.).

All I wanted to say is that I am more than satisfied with my L&H bongo skins.
