WHY IS THAT WHEN I PLAY IN HOT WEATHER I HAVE TO CONSTENTLY TUNE UP. SKINS GET A REAL FLAT SOUND AND FEEL VERY STICKY. IS THERE A SOLUTION?

Sounds like humidity to me. The skins absorb the moisture in the air.

I have experienced the same thing but really if you must play outside the only two solutions are either to keep tuning or go with synthetic heads. Quite a difference in the sound nonetheless synthetics hold off very well in outdor hot/cold weather playing.

Baby powder on the heads and a small candle below the drum.

believe me have plenty of experience here in Tropic weather humid heat Florida.

Well Cuba is hot and humid. I always Walter Mitty'ed myself into a fantasy world of being a Cuban rumbero.

Used to play for an AfroCarribean dance class taught by a woman from Dominique and it would get pretty hot in there. The girls would start sweating and it would get hotter, which would cause the drummers to start sweating and get hotter. It would feed on itself and by the end of the night it would really be rockin'.

Would have to tune as the class wore on but once everything got stable the drums would to, and I would sweat to the point where there would be a puddle underneath me.

I wish i had this problem lads .The weather is poxy

I believe that Ihave tryed just about every synthetic head, the REMOS, which I have on my Poncho Sanchez congas are by far the best, even LP is having REMO manufacture some of their conga heads now.
