I'm asking on behalf of my teacher who has posted this question on his facebook page.
Thanks in advance for any help.

'Do any of you knowledgeable Yorubaphiles know the meaning of 'oke mebo mebo' in the line 'Yo soy Lukumi obba oke mebo mebo'? The first part is straightforward enough but I'm struggling to find anyone who can help me translate 'oke mebo mebo'.

"oke" means on top of, the upper part,
mebo mebo sounds like a landscape or more probable a river. there is no such word as mebo in common yoruba.

for example the place where i lived in nigeria is called "oke ile ile", what means "the upper area besides ile ile river".

there is a small village in central ivorycoast named mebo...

if that helps

greetings

zwar
