Hey SkinDeep!
I was looking at the marvelous video you posted on Youtube, just soaking up every word uttered by that little Venezuelan hottie. I thought I was really beginning to increase my Spanish vocabulary when half way through Part III I realized that she was interviewing the great Ray Barretto. Did anyone else notice that, too? Now how cool is that? I quess my Spanish ain't as great as I thought it was, but I'll bet Ray was equally entranced by her charms. Ray's smiling face brings me some solace. What a great way to remember him - Ray still rules!!!

Saludos,

Berimbau

I put video clips of the rumba sections from "Roots of Rhythm" on my blog. The Muñequitos were so great back then...
Check out Titi on the quinto...

I saw Dave Valentine with Giovanni and The Latin Jazz All-Stars here in KC and appreciate them all. I also like Herbie Mann and have many of his CDs. I will check out the brother from Cuba, thanks for the info.

I thought the flute-beatbox video was pretty cool from a percussive perspective.

guarachon63 thank you for the passion, dedication & work you have done on your site. Your posts have helped me to gain a better undestanding and appreciation for this art form. We have alot of musicians in KC that do rumba but there are very few tangible reference resources.

These are fantastic... that sounds like Henry Bellefonte doing the commentary.

Hey guys,

Been busy lately, but I've got three videos to contribute.

1)

Video of a gathering of percussionists and musicians from all of Western MA to honor the memory of conguero, Freddy Moreno. Good rumba stuff here! I play electric bass for the most part here.

http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=A1AF3DBB339CF8EF

2)

Video of the Salsa tribute concert to conguero, Freddy Moreno. 7 bands played here, and I made choice clips from the concert. I was playing drums on this one.

3)

Me substituting as an electric bass player with a salsa band from Boston, Kilombo Mambo

Enjoy and good luck in your practicing and projects!

Nice clips all. Hope to have something to contribute here soon.

Congamyk, it's true, if you like flute, you might as well check out some in the big leagues.

Beat-box? Mario Rivera plays piccolo on Giovanni's 'Worldwide' album.

Talk about beat-box wind! That's just one.

The standard today is very high.

Enjoy!

Thanks again for your clips!

Yoni
