Amazing independence!
MARIO FERRER "MAYÍN"- the percussionist in this video is doing something i've never seen before on this level.

playing congas and timbales simultaneously

Great independance, however nothing flash... Still takes good talent to do what he is doing, and doing it well. Good clip that.

Ritchie Gajate Garcia, Daniel Lopez amongst many others, are far more impressive with what they play simultaneously...
Anga for example with Omar Sosa played 5 congas, kick drum, bells, clave, timbales/drums with all his limbs simultaneously! Now THAT is some awesome shit!

Now this dude in the following clip... Assaf Seewi, great speed, interesting technique, not exactly traditional approach, while he has speed with his hands, I dont dig his sound, could be the tuning, but his sounds lack definition in my opinion, still a very interesting clip and player. More of a showman, check out his stick juggling act towards the end! A talented cat he is.

Percussion/Conga solo...CLICK HERE

Id never heard of him..

The next clip is one of JC's old friends, Gumbi Ortiz.
Gumbi Ortiz on congas

Next up is Sheila E on drums performing a solo.
SHEILA E on drums

Now next, an interesting clip from Venezuela.
Notice similarities to its Cuban cousin...

I have a dillema.

Im in love with 2 girls. Should I...

a) marry the bongocera
b) marry the timbalera

:D

(open with real player) Orquesta Canela from Colombia.

Not really into Colombian salsa, I find it too straight and simple. However, I can appreciate these girls. Nice work.

Hey Abakua,
Now I just watched both of those videos like 40 times in a row, and I've just noticed that those girls were playing musical instruments too!

Here's a short mix clip of me on congas with one of my projects from an album launch gig I done earlier in the year back in July...
Video footage, editing and mixing by Delman Osorio.

Image not so clear due to compressing...
