HEY GUYS, IT'S A GREAT TIME FOR US TO SHARE INFO ON SOME GREAT MUSIC CDS.

TO START THIS TOPIC, I MOST HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE FOLLOWING CD. BY RUMBA CLUB, TITLED: MAMACITA.
IT'S AWESOME TO LISTEN TO IN THE CAR, OR AT HOME AND IT IS GREAT FOR PLAYING ALONG WITH. IT'S A JAMMIN CD.

NOTES: PRODUCED BY ANDY GONZALEZ.

THIS CD COVERS DIFFERENT RYTHMS. LIKE CHACHA, MERENGUE, BOLERO, BOOGALOO, AND SONGO IN A LATIN JAZZ SETTING. THIS IS A MUST HAVE!

Thanks for the reccomendation Yambu. Not to be off topic, I wouldn't necessarily consider this Latin jazz, but it's modern. It's Gumbi Ortiz Latino Projekt (spelled with a k)... I think the album title is Yo soy de aqui. Like I said, not really jazz but very fun to play with. The first time I heard it I grabbed my bongos and played with the whole album. Some really cool arrangements of old familiar Latin Jazz tunes.

Hola 'mano Charlie,

I just gave you a "5" rating, not only for starting this thread, but also for all your past input. You've shared with us both your technical knowhow and hands-on experience with a lot of brotherly warmth coming deep down from "tu corazon".

By no means do I consider myself anything more than but a "novice" in the art and discipline of Afro-Latin percussion playing, but, IMHO, even if you've joined this forum just recently, it's already well-deserved! In the relatively short time that I've communicated with you by phone and through this forum (despite not having the privilege of personally meeting you yet), I already feel it in my gut that you're simply a genuinely kind and sharing person! I'm sure that not a few of our forum "hermanos y hermanas" share this sentiment, too.

I would say any CD by Chucho Valdez or Jerry Gonzales and Fort Apache band. These guys fuse jazz and Latin incredibly. John Santos and Bobby Matos are also 2 of my favorites.

Have to give it to the man who got Dizzy & Chano together, Mario Bauza. His releases on Messidor are full of lush, sophisticated arrangements. Most feature Patato, Bobby Sanabria, Jose Mangual, Jr. + killer horns.

I cannot begin to express how grateful I am to have been able to learn a few things ffrom Charlie he has taken quite of bit of his own time and cell phone minutes to help guide me. I got my mitts on a copy of Rumba Club--great recommendation brother.
Well recorded and a lot of variety on styles.
I would say it is a pefect record to practice along to as well as giving it ear time.
