Thanks for the link to this event. This is the first time I hear about this event and it looks like something I would have a blast at! It's a shame for me that I won't be able to partake in this year's event as I'm heading to P.R. during that time. But rest assured, I'm marking this one down for 2008.

Windhorse, or anyone else from this site who has been to this event before, can you share your comments and feedback? Thanks!

I'm in a hurry now, so can't make my normal inflated post,

But, it has been a giant motivator for me! I love the West Coast, and would use most anything as a reason to drive the coast, camp out and visit old buddies.. But, aside from that, I've played clave while Francesco Aguebella played quinto, Sandy Perez played Tes Dos, and Jesus Diaz on Tumba! What a fricken rush!
You get to learn different things from the masters, then jam with them at parties - every night!
I could go on and on.. But gotta go now..

man what a great event, i wish i could go. No vacation days left though. now we know. Maybe next year.
we could probrably get some people from here to put something together and meet up there, and share some of the lodging costs.
have fun on the event.

I can rack up so much cost in food alone, that I just get their stay on campus in the dorms and eat everything you want plan. Probably save loads of money that way. Also, the instructors stay on campus and eat in the same place, so you can sometimes visit with them a bit outside of the classroom experience. I'm really surprised a couple of you didn't seem to know about this!
If you look into the records, there have been several posts on this camp from past years.

Oh well... I thought this was still a bit early to be posting about a late summer event. Though, if you're like me, it takes an entire year to save up for it!

I'm one of the instructors. In fact, I'm the only instructor who has taught there every year. The parties are indeed a blast! Please introduce yourself to me when we are there.

I'll be there too, can't wait. The quality of the instuctors is top notch, among the best there is outside of Cuba. It is definitely not too early to start getting in shape for it. 4 to 7 hours a day of drum, dance, and song classes then rumbas at night, we will need all the stamina we can get. Total immersion for a week is a great way to get your timing more solid, internalize the clave, practice singing coro & harmony while you play, and learn lots of new rhythms and parts.

Yep, using the search function you will find past info on this camp.

I wish I could be there. Sounds awesome every year.
