Hey guys,
Just wanted to say that I'm now a full-time elementary school music teacher in a predominantly Puerto Rican school district (Holyoke, MA). I teach at the Kelly Elementary School there, and mostly will focus on passing on basic music reading, snare drum rudiments, and of course, Cuban, Puerto Rican, Dominican, Brazilian, and other rhythms from Latin America (mostly in Percussion ensembles).
I feel so proud to be able to take all the knowledge that I've known from Freddy Moreno, Giovanni Hidalgo, and other teachers here on this forum and be able to pass it on to young minds!
Just letting out the good news. Our percussion traditions will continue, if I have something to say about it!
I have them doing Bomba already...hahah...
