Hello to all!
Does anybody out there in "conga-land" use earphones instead of a big monitor sitting in front of you? I am talking about the in-ear kind. If so, what is your experience with them? Do you like or no? Do you recommend a certain brand? I noticed musician's friend has some Shure E2 Sound Isolating earphones. Any help you can give will be appreciated. You could even buy them for me if you like :p
Thanks
rick

i've done some research about that and found out that the Shure E5 and E500 are the best because they give the full range of sounds but its around 500 $ :-S

Rumberos,I prefer the 2 side monitor because while playing the montuno (Salsa) I am dancing at the same time with the Campana so a headphone in my ear would be an impediment. I seen Trumpets players using it. IMHO a salsa band is too loud for the percussion section to be able to listen thru headphones.

YIKES!! $500!?! Too much for me. I am still looking into the Shure E2 for $99. That is still a bit much. Anybody else with any ideas?

Thanks again
rick

Alafia Abures!
I hope that you are all well and in an abundance of blessings!

I presently have the Sure E2s, I use them on occassion with my pre-mixer (Berhinger 1202), and they actually work quite well. The challenge however is, if you want to get full monitors (the entire band/group), you'll need to run a cable from your main PA system into your pre-mixer, providing you use one. Other than that, I'm not sure how you'll get the sound into your in-ear monitors (IEMs).

I will say this though, maybe I might be insterting them too lightly into my ear canal, but some of the 'ambient' noise still filters through.

Many blessings!

Onile!
