Hi,

Instructional materials on samba batucada seem harder to find than on latin, so I'm interested have you used any of these instrucional books / dvd's:

Ney Rosauro, "The ABCs of Brazilian Percussion" (Book & DVDset)

In The Heart of Rios Baterias (DVD with score booklet)

Maybe there are other good ones that i'm not aware of? (I'm interested in percussion, not the drumset)

Hi korman

"in the heart of Rios Baterias" is an EXCELLENT resource, maybe the best out there on batucada.

all the best, stu

I agree with Congastu, while I have not seen In the Heart of Rio's Baterias I have heard good things about it. It is really hard to find instructional material for samba

I have Ney Rosauro's book/DVD. It is simple, covering basic technique and rhythms for the most common batucada instruments. According to my pandeiro teacher, it shows an old fashioned, slower, simpler technique for that instrument that is falling out of favor.
