Hey all, last night we held a Cuban Night at Sydney's institution for live music, a jazz bar/club called 'The Basement'

We dedicated the night and paid homage to the recently deceased great Cuban pianist Alfredo Rodriguez.

A friend took some pics, here are a few pics Ive uploaded today.

Tonio, one of Australias most influential and advanced conguero/drummer/timabalero's.
He was the former conguero in my timba band, now from time to time, we book him to play bongo/bell and also quinto in our rumba arrangements.
During the night, we will swap around from bongo, tumbas and he and the timbalero also swap around.

here he is cranking the quinto for the opening rumba guaguanco, Cuba Linda.

I wasnt too confident in the way the congas were mic'd up, but out front they were pumping and sounded fantastic, I was proven wrong!
