A set of two shekeres I just finished for Congadelica in England.
I tried out several new ideas and techniques for this set and I am
really pleased with how they turned out, both visually and sonically.

My latest, I'm still working on it, but I really like how it's coming out so far.
The gourd farm is having a festival later this month, I'll be picking up about
20 more gourds or so.

Just finished this little guy. I've got 2 more that go with this one for a set of 3.
This one came out really well, I've got big hopes for the other 2 as well.

Nice one Olsongo, you definitely have a certain style and technique.
I just finished another one today. It got about 4 hours of use at the rumba already.

Here is one I just finished for a friend. He liked the "natural look".
This gourd ended up having a booming open tone a nice crisp action
and very pretty lighter sound from the wood beads.

BNB,

What type of beads are you using? They look bigger than 6x9.

Are they wood or plastic?

thanks

I use round beads, usually they are bigger than the 6x9 pony beads.
Since they are round and solid they have a different sound than the
"barrel" shaped pony beads. Their hole is smaller too. I get them locally.

I make plastic beaded and wood beaded shekeres. The wood beads I use are usually
natural colored.
