does anyone have these drums? or know anything about them? i'd never heard of them until the other day when i 'bumped' into them on ebay. they look like a cross between bongos and congas. i was wondering what the sound was like as they look quite handy for travelling around.

I've heard of Junior congas, mini-congas and other phenomenon
But i haven't heard of congitas until now.

Couldn't find them on ebay - but a quick google turned up various types of them - just a new name for those mini conga garbage buckets.

You weren't interested in buying them were you?

Wouldn't recommend it - so many other options (especially used)

ps. for traveling - everyone seems to recomend the pearl travel conga - want one or two myself someday.

Yes, you see those "congita" , conguitas etc. all of the time at ebay, I call them bonsai drums always
I don´t like them at all, their sound is not neither fish nor flesh, in other words:
either you want to play (a "real") conga, or you wnat to play bongos (technique is different!).
In my personal opinion these instruments just fill a marketing gap.

Just my point of view, though, others might feel different about them.

thanks for the replies guys, i'd kind of thought they might be more of a gimmick than a 'proper' instrument. i was just interested to know if they sounded any good but now we know!

How do these Gon Bops rate Faustino? I cannot help but notice that this picture is from your attic percussion hideout. I have not been impressed by any other "mini conga" but perhaps ole' Gon Bops are different.

By the way I was able to work things out with those Bombas. I guess South American Conga is not equal to Bauer. I appreciate these huge tubs to work with anyways can't find much in these sizes in the USA. (15" & 16") PHAT! These tubs could swallow those congitas whole!

Perhaps you could rate these minis like you did for bongos if there is enough information.
