Does anybody have any experience with either of these? What do you think about em? Which would you recommend? The 12" metal models, to be specific.

Thanks in advance.

Go for the rmv .they make good quality brasilian percussion instruments .Meinl and lp are dodgy when it comes to brasilian stuff .RMV have a good track record , i have played one for years and its a good drum . :)

I would go with RMV over Meinl but I think that Meinl is OK. If Bauer was an option for you I would really try to go with that

What about Contemporanea stuff? I have seen that name around, too.

Contemporanea is good too. I have not ever owned any of their instruments but I have played their caixas and repiniques and they sounded good. I think in some cases they are easier to obtain than some of the other brands. I would estimate they are at the same level as RMV
