I've been thinking of getting a tambora, but I'd like to know who is currently making them and at what level of quality--
So far, I am aware of:
XS (cheapie?)
Mano (cheapie?)
Rhythm Traders (cheapie?)
LP (mid-grade?)
Meinl (mid-grade?)
Caribbean Rhythms (range of quality???)
Timba (probably pretty nice stuff?? high end?)
Moperc (probably pretty nice stuff?? high end?)
Sol (probably pretty nice stuff?? high end?)
And what about high-end stuff? Matt Smith/Ritmo? JCR? Who?
One last thing I am curious about-- why does LP offer a version with a wooden rim and nobody else seems to offer this?
