I’ve searched Yahoo! and Google, and there is nowhere to find any practice exercises for cajon – not even on manufacturers’ sites.

Please, advise of any online resources worth to check.

Danny,

Saludos hermano! Here are several resources for the cajon:

Percussionist Nan Mercader has an excellent flamenco cajon book/DVD available.

Also Guillermo MacGill has some material on Mel Bay Publications.

For the Peruvian tradition make sure and check out Rafael Santa Cruz site:

El Cajon Peruano

Hope this helps!

Saludos,

Jorge Ginorio

I've been using Allan Dworsky’s "Hip Grooves" book for djembe and cajon with good results, but the rhythms are quite limited (because the book comprehends djembe-style and conga-style drums/technique). I found out that djembe and cajon techniques are very similar (and that both instruments have 3 basic sounds), so any written material for one of them could be easily applied to the other.

Rumba flamenco, tanguillo, segurillas etc.. These styles once learnt can be adapted and funkified..
