I assume these guys are based in NY?

I make some nice chekere's but those are beautiful.
I am going to email them re possibility of shipping to me here in Aus...

Yes, this chekeres are made by percussionist Jaisen Torres out of New York.

Abakua, you made those Chekeres that are pictured? They are beautiful, really works of art. Congratulations. To me the Chekere is more than a musical instrument it is a work of visual art as well. The simplicity of the design but the detail and intricacies of the bead work is really cool. A beautiful handmade chekere really stirs the soul.

I dont have any pics of the chekere's Ive made, as they are all sold now.

Hola Abakua,

I have been in contact with Jaisen couple of times by phone, very nice guy! He is a NYC rumbero-batalero and plays around the city with cats like Pedro Martínez, Roman Díaz, Gene Golden, and I believe with "Puntilla" too. He along with his wife are making the chekeres. Give them a call!
