I'd love to find out more about Marcos Suzano's pandeiro technique. If you haven't heard of him before check out the CDs olho de peixe and especially Sambatown. Somehow he manages to keep the jingles going in 16ths while striking the head with various patterns and without upsetting the evenness of the jingle 16ths. I've never seen him play so I can only guess that he turns the pandeiro with his wrist to get the 16ths (tiring and difficult to coordinate with 16th hits on the head) or that he holds the pandeiro horizontally and "pushes and pulls" it backwards and forwards - the head always facing upwards.
Can anyone help?
