Hi, I have antoher problem to submit to you... some stupid insect nibbled the back head (thin goatskin) of my Senegalese 5" talking drum - there are 3 or 4 small round holes. I could not find no one round here who was able to mount new heads in the traditional way (you know, a small rawhide edge sewn round the head, and the tuning rope passing through it). :(
What about fixing the holes, glueing on some very small pieces of thin goatskin? This is the resonant head, since I usually play on the other side because there's a mini-mic mount.
Or any tip on how to mount new heads? I can get some iguana skins properly treated but delivered flat, they can't help me on how to soak, cut, sew and mount.
I know that LP makes replacement heads for its talking drums but unfortunately they are not distributed in Italy, nor I could find any in any on-line shop.
...please help... thank you!!! ???
