This guy has been making shekeres the Southern California and doing some great work. People are treating them more like art work than instruments, he has one on EBay right now...

Very beautiful work, and of $117 is really very inexpensive for the obvious amount of work that went into making it. I wonder how the shells on the neck stand up to the continuous spirited playing of a rumba or guiro.

Not sure about how well the adornments would hold-up. As I mentioned, people are treating them like a piece of art. I saw one he made for Oggun which worked in a very small spear in the neck area - it was beautiful.
