This drum was hand made in N.Y.C. by the late Natalio Junior Tirado Ruiz. The drum is 30-40 years old, made in late 1972 or in 1973 which is the year I got it. This was bought for me by my late father who was also master drum and Chekere/Shekere maker. Wood: Honduran Mahogany. Head size: 11½ inches.
The bands have the look as if another coat of varnish/verithane was put on the drum without removing the bands. Is this the case? And if so, when would this have been done?
