This is an as-new item. I bought it in July 2010 and have played it in the house for, at most a few hours. My living arrangements have changed and I find myself in a space where practicing drums is simply not an option so I have reluctantly decided to sell this. It's a great looking and sounding drum in mint condition with all accessories. I have the original Meinl packing so could ship this with confidence. I'm looking for £90 + postage costs, which is basically half the price I paid for it. I am in Worthing, West Sussex if collection is an option. I also have two books for sale; "Tomas Cruz Conga Method, Volume I" with DVD (Tomas Cruz Conga Method) and "Play congas now: the basics & beyond" By Richie Gajate-Garcia (Play Congas Now). I would take £100 + postage for the conga and both books.

As Asian made Congas go, this basic model from Meinl has all the same elements & materials. But the larger bellies do sound great & this drum only needs a quality head. The traditional rim is strong & fits in with other traditional rim drums. This would be a great lead or second drum. I am trading some Afro congas for a set of chromed meinl Congas. If I had the $$$ now, I would jump on this drum if it is still around at the time.

Earnesto Meinls are made from German wood, and also American Ash.... not Asian Siam oak....

The top of the line meinls may be, but the contes and most other models are made of the same rubberwood or "siam oak" that he majority of manufactured congas are made of Two ply Rubber Wood (Hevea brasiliensis Muell.-Arg.)

These are not German made...These are made in Thailand...this model *, There are other models w/ other species woods...same as what LP is doing in Asia but this model is Asian constricted. Appear to be Marathon model, as is evident w/ the powder coated hard wares...not chromed as the top line Meinls have, and these feature the less expensive traditional crowns.
