LP Timable Sticks

Postby vxla » Tue Apr 24, 2012 4:42 am

I have a couple pairs of 3/8-inch LP timbale sticks, but I can't figure out if they're hickory or ash. They seem a bit softer and have lasted a good long time; are the ash sticks softer or are the hickory?

Thanks.

Hi,

your ash sticks must be pretty old, right? As far as I know, they are not making them anymore. At least not in the size that I preferred (7/16").

Hickory sticks are said to me more durable, which I can confirm. They are heavier and - as far as I know - harder than ash.

I went with the ash sticks and upgraded from 5/16 to 3/8-inch. The sound I get now is a bit thicker (especially in rim shots) and there's less vibration.
