My latest project, 3A Bongos.

Hi Everyone. Just wanted to share my latest project. I just recently added these 3A Bongos to the collection. Got them for a great price. I was not happy with the finish. I stripped these down and finished them in a Cherry Stain. Does any know what kind of wood this is? I’m clueless. It was easy to work with. I’m digging the results. What do you guys think?

Hello.

Nice find, nice woodgrain and nice work. And furthermore, enterizos.

No idea of the wood species, sorry. Something "local" (colombian) ? A kind of granadillo ? Algarrobo (carob tree) ?
Hopefully someone else can help.

Edit : from what I have seen, granadillo is rather redish, so it should be something else.

Hi Juaort,

you did a great job, and the drums look beautiful. I even liked the original, though.

I've never heard of this brand - 3A ... but enterizos are always something special. They certainly sound great.

by 3A was a Colombian brand, now out of business. I own a set too, I'll post some pics later on. Juaort, what are the measurements of yours?

Thanks guys. Chtimulato, theyre 7” X 8 1/2”. They sound amazing. Real crisp Macho and deep dry Hembra. I’m digging the enterizo sound. Been practicing with them all week. I haven’t seen many come up for sale. I jumped on them cause their enterizo and the price was right.
