Bongos in this JJ Cale classic ?

Postby Beatnik07 » Tue Apr 07, 2020 2:43 pm

I listened to this JJ Cale song since my twenties. But always wondered if these were bongos or another drum.
The bongos pattern (if that's the case) isn't large or upfront or complex, but imo it endows the track with an unplaceable flavor/atmosphere and a great groove.
In fact the track imo wouldn't be nearly what it is without it.

It was recorded in 1970, by a then unknown Oklahoma born "blues/folk" singer, in a small Tennessee studio...

This are not bongoes in my ears. Rather some (unknown) other (untuned ?) drum.s.

Sorry I can't help you further.
